Tokens in Motion
The Dance of Symbols and Meaning
The improvisational performance featuring Chun Wai Tai (Percussion), Li Liu (Vocal), Chloe Lin (Pipa), and Yi-Wei Yang (Zheng) embodies the dynamic principles of “Tokens in Motion: The Dance of Symbols and Meaning” (符象流轉:意象舞動). Employing unconventional percussive elements like kitchenware (鍋碗瓢盆) and experimental techniques such as bowing the 古箏, this avant-garde collaboration transforms everyday objects and traditional instruments into evolving agents of meaning.
The performance reflects the exhibition's exploration of recursion, where the interplay of sounds encapsulates both the expected and the unexpected over time. Each sonic moment highlights the fluidity of meaning through recursive generativity, allowing symbols to remain in motion while forming a dynamic and multilayered web of interpretation. By presenting soundscapes as provisional and open-ended, shaped by both external disruptions and human engagement, the performance epitomizes Post-curation's emphasis on recursive collaboration and dynamic meaning-making.
